One of the keys to a successful attorney-client relationship is a firm understanding of the costs associated with any legal undertaking.
I use two different fee agreements, a flat fee agreement and and hourly fee agreement. Once we've have a consultation and we have agreed to enter into an attorney-client relationship, we will discuss which fee agreement is most appropriate for your situation. We will review the fee agreement to make certain we both understand and agree to our mutual obligations.
I will also endeavor to list all costs associated with your case, such as filing fees, service by publication (if required), transcript costs and other miscellaneous costs that can add up. If I encounter a cost that was unanticipated, I will communicate with you prior to incurring the cost to discuss the importance of the cost and the risks of proceeding without it.
